The Committee on Women in the Profession's primary objectives are: To assess the current status of women in the legal profession and to identify career paths of women attorneys and their goals; to identify barriers that prevent women attorneys from full participation in the work, the responsibilities and the rewards of the profession; to assess quality of life issues in the profession which affect both male and female attorneys; to identify unique problems encountered by women attorneys in pursuing their professional careers; to make recommendations to The Mississippi Bar for action to address the problems the Committee identifies. The standing committee is composed of fifteen members serving three-year terms.

18th Annual Evelyn Gandy Lecture Series: The Business Savvy Professional - February 18 & 19

The Mississippi Bar's Women in the Profession Committee, in partnership with UM-CLE is proud to host the 18th Annual Evelyn Gandy Lecture at the beau Rivage in Biloxi. This year's agenda includes a panel discussion by "The Gandy Boys," as well as practical and informative discussions on courtroom and professional etiquette. The Evelyn Gandy Lecture Series' registration fee of $160 includes hors d'oeuvres on arrival, the cocktail reception, full breakfast, and 6.0 hours of CLE credit including one hour of Ethics!  Also, please consider sponsoring a law student's attendance at the conference.  Full scholarships are $250/student and include conference registration, housing and food.  Partial scholarships are also appreciated!! The Women in the Profession Committee, in partnership with the Mississippi Women Lawyer’s Association, is proud to affiliate with Dress for Success Metro Jackson to collect appropriate professional attire for disadvantaged women seeking employment. Please take this opportunity to help disadvantaged women reach their potential by bringing appropriate suits, blouses, skirts, shoes and accessories or monetary donations to this year’s seminar.
