2007 Annual Meeting and Fellows Induction Ceremony

Approximately 140 attorneys and their guests attended the Mississippi Bar Foundation’s 2007 Annual Dinner Meeting on Thursday, April 12 at the Old Capitol Inn. Members of the Foundation gathered to honor and recognize lawyers who have made outstanding contributions to the public and profession. This year the Fellows Induction Ceremony was combined with the Annual Meeting.
Following the reception and dinner, President Nina Stubblefield Tollison of Oxford presided over the annual meeting. Tollison presented the President’s Report mentioning the induction of new Fellows, the Memorial Service for deceased Fellows, and highlights of FY 2006-2007. The major highlight was Mandatory Iolta, which was effective January 1, which had increased revenue more than expected already.


The Mississippi Bar Foundation recognized outgoing members of the Board of Trustees – Gaines Dyer, Greenville; Senith Tipton, Jackson; Colette Oldmixon, Poplarville; and Jim Chaney, Vicksburg.

Robert L. Gibbs of Jackson received the 2007 Law-Related Public Education Award for his many years of service to the Statewide Mock Trial Competition. The Law-Related Public Education Award is presented to a lawyer or law firm or bar organization for excellence in enhancing the public’s understanding of the law and the legal system.

Frank Montague, Jr. received the Foundation’s 2007 Professionalism Award, the Foundation’s highest honor presented to an attorney for excellence in enhancing the public’s understanding of the law and the legal system and who exemplifies the best characteristics of the profession.
