Natural Resources, Environment & Energy (SONREEL)

Section on Natural Resources, Energy and Environmental Law (SONREEL) serves as a primary forum for keeping its members informed in regard to developments in Natural Resources (mining, timber and marine resources); Energy (oil and gas and electric power); and Environmental (air and water quality, hazardous and solid waste, environmental crimes and environmental litigation) areas of the law. This Section produces CLE seminars and in conjunction with students from the University of Mississippi Law School, publishes a newsletter to assist members in keeping abreast of developments and changes in these areas of law.


SONREEL Section CLE Seminar - Friday, March 28
The Section on Natural Resources Energy Environmental Law (SONREEL) of The Mississippi Bar is pleased to host its 2014 CLE Seminar.  It will be held on Friday, March 28, 2014, at the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame Museum located at 1152 Lakeland Drive in Jackson. This seminar will focus on environmental issues associated with the ongoing fracking activity in Southwest Mississippi with a goal of providing a practical and informative 3-hour seminar. Please take the time to complete and return the Registration Form as seating will be limited. Bar Hosts the 2013 Section Orientation Session
Over 50 new Section Officers attended the FY 2013-2014 Orientation Session in August 2013. The half-day program is designed to familiarize new Section leaders with their duties and brief them on resources available to them through the Bar. This year's session included an overview by MS Bar President Guy Mitchell.


2013-2014 SONREEL Section Officers are Trey Smith, Chair; Chris Wells, Vice-Chair; and Keith Turner, Secretary.
