Workers' Compensation

The Administrative Law and Workers' Compensation Section helps its members keep abreast of developments in this rapidly growing area of legal practice. This section is composed of attorneys who practice in the areas of unemployment compensation, social security, and workers compensation. This Section regularly publishes newsletters.

Workers Compensation Section CLE - The Intersection of Workers' Compensation and Administrative Law Issues - Friday, February 7, 2014
On Friday, February 7, 2014, The Mississippi Bar Workers' Compensation Section invites you to join industry and legal professionals from around the country for an all-day CLE, entitled "The Intersection of Workers' Compensation and Administrative Law Issues." Scheduled speakers include state and federal workers' compensation lawyers and professionals, a social security disability attorney, WC and SSA judges, Bankruptcy Trustee Staff Attorney, DHS Staff Attorney and a Jones Act/LHWCA attorney. The CLE is geared towards workers' compensation attorneys, administrative law practitioners and affiliated industry professionals. This one-of-a-kind event will be held at the Hilton located at 1001 East County Line Road, Jackson. Mississippi attorneys will receive six (6) CLE-credits, including one (1) hour of ethics. Lunch will be provided to optimize networking opportunities with the speakers. For members of The Mississippi Bar WC Section, the cost is $150. For non-member attorneys, the cost is $175. Bar Hosts the 2013 Section Orientation Session
Over 50 new Section Officers attended the FY 2013-2014 Orientation Session in August 2013. The half-day program is designed to familiarize new Section leaders with their duties and brief them on resources available to them through the Bar. This year's session included an overview by MS Bar President Guy Mitchell.

Kids' Chance of Mississippi is a scholarship fund established by the Mississippi Bar Foundation under the Administrative Law and Workers' Compensation Section of the Mississippi Bar to provide scholarships for children who have had a parent killed or permanently and totally disabled on the job. Kids' Chance of Mississippi provides scholarships for students to attend vocational/technical school or college. The fund brings together all those involved in workers' compensation issues: the legal, medical and business communities. Visit Kid's Chance for more information about Kid's Chance Scholarship and Applications.
Kid's Chance Scholarship Fund Pilot Mediation Project generates fees that are applied to the Kid's Scholarship Fund. Visit Kid's Chance Mediators for a list of available mediators with email addresses.
