Sacred Heart Catholic School Earns State High School Mock Trial Championship Title for the Second Year in a Row Sacred Heart Catholic School Team 1 won the Championship Round of the Mississippi High School Mock Trial Competition at the Supreme Court Chambers on Saturday, February 27, coached by attorneys Don Hinton, Austin Stewart and David Miller. Sacred Heart will represent Mississippi in the National High School Mock Trial Competition in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, May 5-9. St. Andrews Episcopal School earned the second place trophy gavel, coached by Walter Johnson. The following schools earned the remainder of the top six positions. Sacred Heart Team 2, third place, coached by Don Hinton, Austin Stewart and David Miller; Long Beach Team 2, fourth place, coached by Bradley W. Rath and Chris Hare; Madison Central Team 2, fifth place, coached by Rogen Chhabra; and Reservoir Area Christian Home Educators, sixth place, coached by Jacob Ray. A special thanks to all of the attorney coaches and judges that volunteered their valuable time to help with this Young Lawyers Division law related education program in its 27th year. This valuable tool enhances the mock trial experience for students, teachers, and coaches. This dynamic website includes interactive exercises that allow students to test their knowledge of the trial process. It demonstrates opening statements, closing arguments, direct examinations, cross examinations, and much more.
