Sacred Heart Catholic School Earns Statewide High School Mock Trial Championship Title for the Third Straight Year
Sacred Heart Catholic School won the Championship Round of the Mississippi High School Mock Trial Competition at the Supreme Court Chambers on Saturday, February 26, coached by attorneys Don Hinton, Austin Stewart and David Miller. Sacred Heart will represent Mississippi in the National High School Mock Trial Competition in Phoenix, Arizona May 4-8. Copiah Academy Team 1 earned the second place trophy gavel, coached by Daniel W. Kitchens, Milton Carroll McCardle and Timothy Lavelle Rutland. The following schools earned the remainder of the top six positions. Greenville-Weston High School, third place, coached by Kimberly J Merchant and Thomas Morris, Sr.; Marshall Academy Team 2, fourth place, coached by Anthony L. Farese and Phillip K. Knecht; Long Beach High School Team 1, fifth place, coached by Brad Rath; and Madison Central Team 2, sixth place, coached by Rogen Chhabra. A special thanks to all of the attorney coaches and judges that volunteered their valuable time to help with this Young Lawyers Division law related education program in its 28th year. National Mock Trial Practicum The National High School Mock Trial Championship Board in partnership with Great River Technologies presents the NATIONAL MOCK TRIAL PRACTICUM WEBSITE. This valuable tool enhances the mock trial experience for students, teachers, and coaches. This dynamic website includes interactive exercises that allow students to test their knowledge of the trial process. It demonstrates opening statements, closing arguments, direct examinations, cross examinations, and much more.
