The Mississippi High School Mock Trial Program strives to give students a better understanding of the American justice system by allowing them to experience legal processes first hand.  Through their role playing as lawyers, witnesses, plaintiffs and defendants, the students develop a clearer picture of the mechanism our society has chosen for resolving disputes.

The journalism component of the Competition is designed to be an educational tool for students, particularly those with future journalism endeavors. Winning contestants from each regional will be invited to participate in the statewide final competition and must be present at Round I and II of the Statewide Mock Trial Competition in Jackson.
