Sacred Heart Catholic School Team 1 Earns Statewide High School Mock Trial Championship Title

Sacred Heart Catholic School Team 1 won the Championship Round of the Mississippi High School Mock Trial Competition at the Hinds County Courthouse on Saturday, March 1, coached by attorneys Don Hinton and Carey Varnado. Sacred Heart Catholic School will represent Mississippi in the National High School Mock Trial Competition in Madison, Wisconsin, on May 8-10. Madison Central earned the second place trophy gavel, coached by Rogen Chhabra and  Staci O'Neal. The following schools earned the remainder of the top six positions. Sacred Heart Catholic School Team 2, third place, coached by Don Hinton and Carey Varnado; MSMS Team 1, fourth place, coached by Scott Colom; St. Andrew's Episcopal School, fifth place, coached by Jim Shelson and Ashley Wright; and Wyatt, Tarrant & Combs, sixth place, coached by Lawson Hester. A special thanks to all of the attorney coaches and judges that volunteered their valuable time to help with this Young Lawyers Division law related education program in its 31st year.
