Young Lawyers Division Disaster Legal Assistance Program Needs Telephone Volunteers
The Mississippi Bar Young Lawyers Division Disaster Legal Assistance Committee is seeking volunteer attorneys to provide telephone assistance to victims of the recent tornadoes in Forrest, Lamar, Wayne and Marion Counties. In conjunction with FEMA and the MS Emergency Management Agency, a toll-free hotline has been established at the Bar Center for victims to call for legal assistance. At this time, volunteer attorneys are needed only for telephone legal assistance. Victims will call the hotline and an intake form will be completed and then emailed to the volunteer attorneys on a rotating basis. Volunteer attorneys will respond to the victims by telephone.
