Bar Recognizes Edderek "Beau" Cole for Distinguished Service

(JACKSON, MS)— Edderek "Beau" Cole of Jackson received the 2020 Distinguished Service Award presented during The Mississippi Bar's 2020 Annual Business Session held on July 17, 2020.

Each year, The Mississippi Bar honors certain individuals whose work and contributions advance the purposes of the Bar and demonstrate the legal profession's commitment to serve the public and the profession.  Cole received the Distinguished Service Award in honor of his outstanding achievements and significant contributions to the legal community.

Cole serves as Committee Chair of the Bar’s Lawyers and Judges Assistance Program (LJAP), which provides guidance and on-going support for legal professionals in need of assistance. In addition to his work with LJAP, Cole has served in various capacities with local, affinity, and state bar associations, including the Capital Area Bar Association, the Magnolia Bar Association, and The Mississippi Bar Young Lawyers Division's Diversity in the Law Committee. Cole has served on the Mississippi Volunteer Lawyers Project Advisory Board, the Mississippi Center for Legal Services Board, and the Mississippi Access to Justice Commission.

Cole received a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Southern Mississippi before attending Mississippi College School of Law.  He was also honored in 2016 as a "Top 10 Finalist" as one of Mississippi Business Journal's Leading Attorneys and was granted the State of Mississippi Commission for Volunteer Service Award that same year.
