October 1, the Supreme Court of North Carolina entered an Order to permit lawyers licensed in other states but not in North Carolina to temporarily register with the North Carolina State Bar and begin immediately providing pro bono legal services to indigent residents of North Carolina who are victims of Hurricane/Tropical Storm Helene.
The North Carolina State Bar is anticipating an unprecedented need for lawyers to help victims of the storm with the many legal problems that will arise including landlord/tenant issues, consumer fraud, and most specifically FEMA applications.
If you are willing to volunteer to help, complete the Registration Form for Temporary Pro Bono Practice and submit it directly to the North Carolina State Bar. For additional information, you may contact the North Carolina State Bar at (919) 828-4620 or by email to [email protected].
