Sacred Heart Catholic School Earns Statewide High School Mock Trial Championship Title
Sacred Heart Catholic School (Team 1), coached by Richard Filce, Don Hinton, Leslyn Tamberg, and Carey Varnado, won the Championship Round of the Mississippi High School Mock Trial Competition. The statewide competition was held virtually on Friday, February 26, and Saturday, February 27. Sacred Heart will represent Mississippi in the National High School Mock Trial Competition virtually, on May 13-15, 2021. Oxford High School (Team 1) earned the second place trophy gavel, coached by Laura Boughton and Christine Tatum. The following schools earned the remainder of the top six positions: Sacred Heart (Team 2), third place; Oxford High School (Team 2), fourth place; Vancleave High School, fifth place, coached by Laura Barnes and Katina Demoran; and Madison Central High School, sixth place, coached by Jimmy Ainsworth and Judge Staci O’Neal. A special thank you to all of the attorney coaches and judges who volunteered their valuable time to help with this Young Lawyers Division law related education program in its 38th year.
