Bennett was admitted to The Mississippi Bar in 1965. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army Reserves where he served in the Judge Advocate General's Corps in Jackson. Bennett was a founding shareholder of Bennett, Lotterhos, Sulser, & Wilson and served as assistant dean of the Mississippi College School of Law. He served as president of The Mississippi Bar in 2000 and was a Fellow of the Mississippi Bar Foundation.LISA MARIE BROWNLisa Marie Brown, 54, of Hattiesburg, died January 12, 2025. She earned a Juris Doctorate from Mississippi College School of Law and was admitted to The Mississippi Bar in 2004. Brown owned Elite Title Company.FREDERICK MARSHALL %u201cMIKE%u201d BUSH IIIFrederick Marshall %u201cMike%u201d Bush III, 79, of Jackson, died January 21, 2025. He earned an undergraduate degree from Brown University, completed a Juris Doctorate in only two years from the University of Mississippi School of Law, and earned a Master of Laws degree from Harvard Law School. While at UM School of Law, he was editor of the law journal, graduated first in his class, and was named by the faculty as the outstanding law graduate. Following his admittance to The Mississippi Bar in 1969, Bush joined his father in practice at Mitchell, McNutt & Bush and later became a partner. He joined Phelps Dunbar in 1989 and stayed there for 36 years, serving as the managing partner in the Tupelo office and later as the head of the business practice in the Jackson office. In the U.S. Navy Reserve, Bush was commissioned as an ensign in the Judge Advocate General%u2019s Corps, from which he was honorably discharged. A leader in The Mississippi Bar, Bush served as president of the Young Lawyers Division in 1976-1977. He was a member of the American Bar Association, the National Association of Bond Lawyers, and the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel. Bush was listed in Chambers USA: America%u2019s Leading Lawyers for Business, Best Lawyers in America, and Mid-South Super Lawyers.PATSY A. BUSHPatsy A. Bush, 89, of Hazlehurst, died December 1, 2024. She earned a Juris Doctorate from Mississippi College School of Law and was admitted to The Mississippi Bar in 1989. Bush was also a member of the American Bar Association.BRYAN H. CALLAWAYBryan H. Callaway, 60, of Natchez, died February 28, 2025. He earned an undergraduate degree from Mississippi State University and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Mississippi School of Law and was admitted to The Mississippi Bar in 1990. Callaway served Adams County as a Justice Court Judge, as Adams County Prosecutor, Assistant District Attorney, City of Natchez Attorney, and Staff Attorney for District Judge Debra Blackwell. JAMES L. \James L. \2025. He earned an undergraduate degree from Millsaps College and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Mississippi School of Law. His legal education was temporarily interrupted by the Vietnam War during which he served on active duty in the U.S. Army before returing to law school. Carroll cofounded Carroll Warren & Parker PLLC in Jackson. He was president of the Mississippi Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates, recognized as a Fellow of the Mississippi Bar Foundation, and was a member of the American Inns of Court. Carroll was an adjunct professor of law at UM School of Law.JAMES P. %u201cBUTCH%u201d COTHRENJames P. %u201cButch%u201d Cothren, 83, of Jackson, died January 22, 2025. He earned an undergraduate degree from the University of Mississippi and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Mississippi School of Law. After his admittance to The Mississippi Bar in 1967, Cothren began his legal career at Plough Inc. in Memphis, Tennessee. He later moved to Jackson where he practiced law for more than 50 years. Cothren served as president of the Jackson Young Lawyers, president of the Hinds County Bar Association, president of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) Mississippi Chapter, and president of the Mississippi Trial Lawyers Association. In 1974, he served as an interim judge on the Hinds County Circuit Court. In 2001, he served as chairman of the ABOTA National Convention.DAVID LEE DANIELSDavid Lee Daniels, 75, of Belden, died March 8, 2025. He earned a Juris Doctorate from the University of Mississippi School of Law and was admitted to The Mississippi Bar in 1990. Daniels was a solo practitioner for years and served for 20 years as a prosecutor in the local District Attorney's Office. Most recently he was appointed Assistant District Attorney in charge of the Major Crimes Division.JAMES H. FORSYTHJames H. Forsyth, 85, of San Francisco, California, died December 5, 2024. He earned an undergraduate degree from Mississippi College and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Mississippi School of Law. Following law school, Forsyth joined the U.S. Navy, served 4 years in the Judge Advocate General Corps, and was the legal officer aboard the USS Hancock aircraft carrier deployed to Vietnam. Following his military service, he joined the Internal Revenue Service as an estate tax attorney and worked in the San Francisco area for many years. Forsyth was later the CFO of the Episcopal Diocese of California until retiring in 2011.SAM HOOPER GAMMILLSam Hooper Gammill, 86, of Jackson, died March 21, 2025. He attended Millsaps College, earned an undergraduate degree from Auburn University, and earned a Juris Doctorate from the University of Mississippi School of Law. Gammill served in the Mississippi Marine Reserve and the Air National Guard. He began his law practice in Hattiesburg and later returned to Jackson.DAVID V. GILLENTINE IIIDavid V.
