                                    Leadership Mississippi Bar LearnsThe 26 members of the Leadership Mississippi Bar class have attended monthly meetings since the program kicked off in September. The group has experienced leadership training, met in small groups, heard from Bar leaders and staff, and networked.At its first meeting, the group heard a kickoff address from Bar President Rhea Tannehill and participated in DiSC Leadership Assessment training conducted by Linda Ross Aldy. In the fall, leadership participants heard from a host of leaders. Bar President-Elect Kelly Sessoms and Young Lawyers Division President Anna Rush discussed getting involved in the Bar's activities and in Bar leadership. General Counsel Missye Scott gave an overview of the disciplinary activities of the Bar's Office of General Counsel. The Lawyers and Judges Assistance Program director Dr. Jessica Cole discussed the LJA program and how it helps attorneys in need. Gayla Carpenter-Sanders of the Mississippi Volunteer Lawyers Project discussed the group's mission and how attorneys can get involved in pro bono work. Mississippi Bar Foundation President Tammra Cascio gave a snapshot of the Foundation's programs, initiatives and awards.At another fall meeting, the group heard from Bar leaders on key topics relating to leadership. A conflict resolution discussion led by Past President Jennifer Ingram Johnson was followed by Rebecca Wiggs' presentation on how to be successful when leading teams. Judge LaKeysha Greer Isaac discussed organizational leadership in the community and state, and Nakimuli Davis-Primer provided information about workplace intergenerational leadership. Finally, Past President Robert Gibbs gave a talk on the significance of diversity in the profession.In December, participants began working on small group projects. Each group is charged with presenting a finished group project in the spring.This winter, the LMB group will visit the State Capitol, Mississippi Supreme Cour t and the Attorney General's Office to hear from elected officials and learn about state government.10 WINTER 2026
