The Mississippi Bar is aware of a recent phishing scam targeting Mississippi lawyers. Please don’t fall for it!
Fraudulent emails are being sent to lawyers using deceptive email addresses, which purport to be from State Bar leadership or staff. Some of the emails read: "Greetings, checking to see if we can touch base on something?" When someone responds, the scammer instructs them to purchase gift cards. If you receive an email like this, please be aware it is a scam.

You can expect that legitimate emails from Bar leadership will NOT have the domain @gmail.com in the "from" field of your email application. No current Bar officers utilize Gmail for their work email address.

Please note that emails from the Bar will always include the specific domain @msbar.org in the "from" field of your email application and no variation of that. 

If you receive a fraudulent email claiming to be from the Bar or any individual, we recommend that you delete it immediately. Members should not respond to the message, click on any links, or provide personal information.
